Chipping away

Yesterday, afternoon hungries had me looking at the snack machine.  I wanted low cal, high flavor, mucho food.  I chose a bag of rib flavored chips.  At 150 cals they met the low cal requirement.  The rib flavor is high flavor excellent and tastes more like a steak, so that met the second requirement.  To turn the single serving bag into mucho food, I crushed them and ate them off my fingertips while I sat working at my desk with a diet 7up.  That bag of chips was opened at 1pm and was finshed at 2:30pm while I worked on my work project.  I was full and satisfied.  It was like I was eating steak for the past 1.5 hours.  Yummmmmmm…

Making Choices

When I was pregnant with my first child, I weighed 116.  Now almost 32 years later, I weigh 250.  I made a lot of bad choices to get to this point and I am determined to get to a healthier weight.  Last week, I wanted something highish calorie to eat, but did not let myself have it  I noticed that I ultimately ate more calories than I would have had I eaten the candy I wanted in the first place.

Last night I did something different.  I was planning to go out to eat and knew I wanted fried chicken.  I planned my calories and planned fried chicken into it.  When I sat down to the chicken, I ate it with pure enjoyment.  I got full quickly and took half of it home to eat as my fourth meal.  It was wonderful and I used far fewer calories letting myself have exactly what I wanted!!!

Today was a good day!

I was out a lot longer than I expected to be and got really hungry.  Instead of blowing off my determination to count calories and keep track of my food, I went to a cafeteria style restaurant and got their vegetable platter instead of opting for a fast food salad.  When I came home, I cooked dinner as usual.  This was very cool.  I maintained my calories without going over.  I didn’t eat things I really don’t want.  It was a good day!

I love this site!

Last July, I joined Weight Watchers and did very well even through a 12 day power outage by hurricane Gustav.  However, I gained back all I lost.  In desperation, I was about to rejoin WW when I came across this site.  I love it.  It is comparable, but in many ways better than WW.  I am so looking forward to losing weight and working this site.
